As pioneers of the “one hour volunteer” movement, SERVE 60™ hopes to prove that we can ALL make a difference by volunteering for just one hour….even if it’s only twice a year during Daylight Saving Time weekends.

We all live in a busy, hectic world that demands a great deal of our time, however, it is our hope that once you start volunteering, you will realize just how rewarding and easy it is to help others in our communities.

It’s not just a slogan. We truly believe the words…Change Your Clock. Change The World™.

The holiday season is a great time of the year to volunteer and make a difference in the lives of others. At SERVE 60™, we think it’s also a great time to travel!

In 2010, we launched the first ever SERVE 60™ “Giveback-Getaway” during the holiday season. Our social media campaign was simple. We asked individuals to make a pledge to volunteer and complete one hour of community service during the holiday season. By doing so, they were automatically entered to win a set of round trip tickets to anywhere in the Continental U.S. courtesy of our corporate partner, AirTran Airways.

The response was tremendous to say the least! Our 2010 winner spent her 60 minutes volunteering at a food pantry and helping families in her community. Next year, the promotion promises to have some added surprises and strategic partners that will make the SERVE 60™ “Giveback-Getaway” even bigger and better!

SERVE 60™ is proud to have partnered with Farm Aid for its 25th anniversary on October 2, 2010 in Milwaukee, WI. Founded by Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp, the all day “concert experience” is truly remarkable. Farm Aid 25 was hosted by Tavis Smiley and featured Dave Matthews, Norah Jones, Neil Young, John Mellencamp and a special duet with Steven Tyler and founder, Willie Nelson.

For 25 years, Farm Aid’s mission has remained consistent–helping farmers across America. For Farm Aid 25, SERVE 60™ was there to help carry out that mission. SERVE 60™ recruited and provided 35 volunteers to survey the more than 40,000 concert attendees for 3 hours. The volunteers captured data on everything from musical tastes and food preferences to the fans’ knowledge of farming practices all in order to make future Farm Aid concerts even better!

In exchange for the volunteers’ 3 hours of service, they each received free entry into the concert and a free meal courtesy of our partner, Farm Aid.

SERVE 60™ believes in the power of collaboration. One of our most successful collaborations has been with our strategic nonprofit partner, The Marcus Graham Project (MGP) to create “The Boomerang Effect”. The Dallas, TX based nonprofit has a mission to increase diversity within the advertising, marketing, public relations and media industry through mentorship.

Held each spring during the start of Daylight Saving Time weekend, “The Boomerang Effect” brings to life the premise that “We Can Move a Generation Forward by Giving Back”. The project is a social media experiment which combines social media, traditional networking, diversity, volunteering and community service. In 2011, we expanded our weekend of giving back, networking and volunteering with youth organizations to 12 U.S. cities including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, Detroit, Minneapolis, Washington DC, Philadelphia, Cincinnati, San Francisco, Dallas and Milwaukee.

As “The Boomerang Effect” continues to grow, so do our strategic partners. In 2011, The One Club and Black Enterprise Magazine joined SERVE 60™ and The Marcus Graham Project to produce “The Boomerang Effect” and fulfill our mission to not only move forward in time but to move a generation forward.

Meet the SERVE 60™Brand Ambassadors! Lesha Knowles and Tony Mancuso. We introduced Lesha and Tony to our volunteer community in early 2011. These two dynamic individuals definitely believe in giving back to their communities and helping others. Lesha enjoys volunteering with the elderly and Tony likes working with kids.

SERVE 60™ loves music! In summer 2010, we took our love of music and created America’s newest outdoor music concert series with a community service twist. Held on the 2nd Sunday of the month from June through September, the free concerts feature the best in local and regional gospel acts along with great food and retail vendors.

Most importantly, through our strategic partnerships with nonprofits, 2nd Sundays offers concertgoers the chance to “give back” to their local communities. From recruiting mentors and volunteers to donating food and other resources, the monthly concerts offer gospel music fans a turnkey way to make a difference.

For our launch in 2010, SERVE 60™ partnered with Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin by asking attendees to donate food items for needy families in the community. At the end of the 3 hour concert, attendees had donated over 400 pounds of food, canned goods and other non-perishable food items.

Not to be outdone, our corporate sponsors also got into the act (literally). Our corporate sponsors provided teams of employees that volunteered for 60 minute shifts during the concert in order to help collect the food and canned goods for our nonprofit partner.

In summer 2011, 2nd Sundays will return to Milwaukee, WI and expand to additional markets including Atlanta, GA. Watch for us in your city soon!
